Public Presentations and Conference Workshops

A primary purpose of HIV Wisdom for Older Women is to raise the public awareness that HIV infection can and does impact mid-life and older women. We accomplish this goal by delivering prevention and outreach programs nationwide to a diverse variety of audiences, including health, aging, and social service providers; church congregations; students; senior groups; and fraternal, social, and corporate organizations.

A typical prevention program consists of a spoken presentation by an older infected woman, either individually, or as part of a panel discussion. By telling her personal story of living and aging with HIV, the presenter heightens the impact and value of her educational message: that the spread of the virus can and must be stopped, in older adults as well as the population at large.

HIV Wisdom for Older Women also facilitates workshops directed toward women living with the virus, providing support, information, and networking opportunities at local, state and national conferences on HIV.
