Who We Are

HIV Wisdom for Older Women is an organization dedicated to prevention and care. Recognizing a need for awareness and support for older women affected by HIV, the group was formed in 2002 to serve this under-represented community, and to educate older women about HIV.

Founder and Director, Jane Pecinovsky Fowler
Jane knows first-hand the challenges of living with HIV: she was diagnosed with the virus in 1991. A retired journalist who now devotes her energies to HIV/AIDS prevention and education, she has given hundreds of presentations at local, state, regional, national and international meetings and conferences. After becoming an activist and public speaker in 1995, Jane was a co-founder of the National Association on HIV Over Fifty (NAHOF). She served five years as volunteer co-chairperson on the NAHOF board and later as national coordinator of the group.
